With Help

Today I planned to dig out the basin for the pump housing and reservoir crates and install them after installing the underlayment and rubber lining. With working in the full sun with temperatures in mid 90’s, I was thankful for the help of Eric Nearing (Debbi’s youngest son.) Together we got all that done. I finished around 5:00 pm, about six hours after starting.

The first six inches of excavation was relative easy but then we hit hard red clay. That meant pick and shovels down to 18.5 inches for the main hole and 25 inches for the pump housing hole. I haven’t dug a hole like that since one high school summer when working for the local water company setting and connecting water meters. That was hard but nothing like today. Maybe age has something to do with that?? Or the fact that I am used to living with air conditioning!
